Professional Belly Piercing Services

At Iris Tattoo, every belly piercing starts with a free anatomy check. One of our piercers will take a look at the natural shape of your navel, talk through the placements that are likely to work best, and answer any questions you have before you make a decision. There's no charge for the consultation and no pressure to book afterward, so you can come in simply to get a better idea of what will suit your anatomy. If you decide to move forward, the piercing itself only takes a few seconds.

Your Free Navel Anatomy Check

Navel piercings depend heavily on anatomy. The shape of the rim, the depth of the navel, and the way the area folds when you sit all affect how well a piercing will heal and which placement makes the most sense. Those are things we need to see in person, which is why we don't assess navel piercings from photos alone.

Before any navel piercing, we perform a free anatomy check. Your piercer will look at your navel while you're standing and sitting, explain which placements work with your anatomy, and be straightforward if a particular style isn't a good fit. You can walk in for the check at any time, even if you're still deciding whether you want to get pierced.

While you're here, you can also look through our jewelry collection. Styling is included with every piercing, so we'll help you choose a piece that works with both the placement and the look you want. Seeing the jewelry in person also makes it much easier to compare your options than trying to judge everything from a screen.

Top, Bottom, and Floating Navel Piercings

We pierce three navel placements. The anatomy check tells you which one is yours.

Top Navel

The classic. Jewelry goes through the upper rim of the navel and hangs into the hollow. It's the most requested of the three and works on the widest range of navels.

Bottom Navel

We place this one through the lower rim instead, with the jewelry curving upward. People often choose it as a second piercing to sit opposite an existing top navel, and it suits navels with more definition along the bottom edge.

Floating Navel

A shallower placement that sits flush against the skin with no bottom jewelry so it is more comfortable when sitting and better for healing. It’s a fun and versatile alternative with many top options to choose from, and it's worth asking about if the classic placement isn't right for you.

Jewelry for a New Navel Piercing

We pierce with two materials, solid gold in 14k or 18k, and certified implant grade titanium. You'll pick your piece with a staff member before the piercing, which is the part most people enjoy more than they expected to.

Please note, due to biohazard and hygiene rules, all piercing sales are final, and it's one more reason we do the choosing together, with a piercer in the room.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Before

You don't need to arrive with your mind made up. We include styling, so your piercer designs the placement and the jewelry choice around your anatomy, your comfort, and the look you're going for. We mark everything and show you first, and nothing happens until you're happy with the position.

During

We welcome you into a calm, refined space. Your piercer talks you through each step, sets the placement precisely, and works with care and clarity. Every piercing at Iris Tattoo is done with a sterile, single-use needle. We never use piercing guns.

After

We celebrate the moment with photos, explain the healing and the care clearly, and send you home with an aftercare kit and your name on the bag. Questions three months later are still welcome. Our piercers give free consultations to anyone, including people we didn't pierce.

Healing Time and Aftercare

Give a navel six months to a year. It's a body piercing so a navel that feels settled at eight weeks is still rebuilding underneath. Tissue heals from the outside in, which is why it feels finished before it is.

Your aftercare kit comes with the service. Wash your hands before you touch the piercing, rinse with saline throughout the healing, and for a navel a clean gauze soaked in saline is often easier than trying to aim. If your piercer suggests an antibacterial soap, keep it gentle and unscented, nothing with fragrance or triclosan, and rinse until no trace is left. Never rotate the jewelry. Let it air dry, or pat it with clean disposable paper. Cloth towels snag and carry bacteria.

Bleeding, swelling, bruising, tenderness, itching, and a whitish yellow fluid that isn't pus are all normal. Redness or swelling still going a month in usually means the routine needs adjusting, and we can sort that out in about five minutes in the studio.

There's a reason people book navels in winter. Start in January and the healing happens while you're covered up, so you're wearing gold by the time it's warm again.

Book Ahead or Walk In

Booking guarantees your spot and avoids wait-times. We welcome walk-ins at both studios until 7pm, first come, first served, so if you'd prefer not to wait, book.

The anatomy check needs neither. Come in, let us look, and decide afterward.

Belly Piercing Questions, Answered

  • Navel piercing prices start at $50 and vary with the placement and the jewelry you choose, our selection running from implant grade titanium through solid gold. Come in or contact the studio and a piercer will give you an exact figure.

  • While appointments are always best, we welcome walk-ins at both studios until 7:30pm on a first come, first served basis.

  • Depending on whether a traditional navel or a floating navel, we use a barbell for traditional navels that comes in either solid gold or implant grade titanium and implant grade titanium flat back floating navel labrets for floating navels with both titanium or solid gold options for the top piece. First navel piercings sit at a 14 gauge.

  • No. We pierce only with jewelry sold at the studio, which is how we can guarantee it's sterilized solid gold or implant certified titanium.

  • No. We pierce with sterile, single-use needles, never a gun. A needle makes a clean channel through the tissue, which is why every professional studio uses one.

  • We don't recommend it, since the placement requires a thicker gauge to heal properly and avoid rejection and due to the movement of a hoop, it irritates a healing piercing and could cause delays.

  • Six months to a year for most people. It heals from the outside in, so it'll feel done well before it is.

  • Wait at least two- four months before you swap to a different piece, and make sure it is solid gold or implant grade titanium to avoid irritation that can cause healing delays.

  • Requirements are set by state law and differ between our Florida and Tennessee studios. Please review the identification and documentation needed at the location you plan to visit. See the requirements for Miami or Nashville.

  • We pierce at two studios, one in Miami and one in Nashville, each with its own team and its own booking. See piercing in Miami or Nashville.
